Adult Swim Socials

When we opened our doors in January 2024 as a swim school, we received many enquiries from adults about lane swimming and soft aqua aerobics/swim-mobility type sessions.

Enquire About Adult Sessions

As a result of popular demand from adults, and feedback that has been very positive in terms of supporting with conditions such as arthritis, helping build confidence and improving emotional well-being, we provide a regular programme of adult activities.

We understand that swimming can help people maintain healthy weight and support body joints and enable older people to exercise even if struggling with mobility, for example if suffering from arthritis. Swimming can also reduce risks of falling, aiding with balance and coordination. The social aspects of being part of a group can also benefit factors such as depression, anxiety, mood, self-esteem and psychological wellbeing.

Lessons Explained

Swimobility

Swimobility – Our Swimobility class is a gentle, low-impact exercise session designed to help improve mobility, strength, balance and overall fitness in the environment of the water.

The class involves taking part in a range of simple movements through the water, using the resistance of the water to gently work the muscles while reducing pressure and impact on the joints. Exercises can be adapted to suit different abilities and fitness levels, making the class suitable for those looking to improve their movement, maintain mobility or gradually build strength.

Aquafit

Aquafit – AquaFit is a energetic full-body workout performed in the water, designed to improve cardiovascular fitness, strength, mobility and overall wellbeing.

Using the natural resistance of the water, the class combines a variety of exercises including walking, jogging, leg and arm movements, resistance exercises and cardio-based activities. The water provides support while also creating resistance, allowing you to work your muscles effectively while reducing the impact on your joints.
