Lessons Explained
Parent & Baby
Parent and baby swimming lessons are specially designed sessions that introduce babies to the water in a safe, supportive, and playful environment always with a parent or carer by their side. These classes focus on building water confidence from an early age, using songs, gentle movements, and guided activities to help babies become comfortable in the pool. Parents learn how to safely hold and support their child in the water, while babies develop coordination, balance, and familiarity with floating and splashing.
Parent & Toddler
Parent and toddler swimming lessons are fun, structured sessions designed for young children to enjoy the water alongside a parent or carer. These classes build on early water confidence, helping toddlers become more independent while still feeling secure with a familiar adult close by. Instructors gently introduce basic swimming skills through games, songs and imaginative activities such as floating, submerging and simple arm and leg movements, all tailored to each child’s pace and comfort level.
Beginner Preschool
Beginner preschool swimming lessons are designed for young children, typically aged 3 to 5 years, to develop essential water skills in a fun, structured, and supportive environment. At this stage, children begin to gain more independence in the water, participating without a parent in the pool, while still receiving close guidance from qualified instructors. Lessons focus on building water confidence and introducing fundamental swimming techniques, such as floating, kicking, basic arm movements, and controlled breathing. Instructors also place a strong emphasis on water safety, teaching children how to enter and exit the pool safely, understand boundaries, and respond to basic instructions in and around the water.
Good Beginner Preschool
Good beginner preschool swimming lessons are designed for young children, typically aged 3 to 5 years, to develop essential water skills in a fun, structured, and supportive environment. At this stage, reliance on armbands is gradually reduced as children begin to develop greater independence in the water. Instructors focus on building confidence and strengthening swimming strokes without support, while gently introducing submersion skills in a safe and controlled way.
Intermediate Preschool
Preschool swimming lessons are designed for young children, typically aged 3 to 5 years, to develop essential water skills in a fun, structured, and supportive environment. At this stage, children are encouraged to swim confidently with little to no support, building true independence in the water. Instructors focus on refining and strengthening stroke technique, helping swimmers develop consistency and control as they prepare for the transition into full-time school evening lessons.
Beginners
Beginner swimming lessons are designed to introduce children to the water in a safe, supportive, and confidence-building environment. These sessions are ideal for those with little or no previous experience, focusing on helping swimmers feel comfortable and relaxed in the pool. Instructors start with the basics, such as safe pool entry and exit, water confidence, and simple skills like blowing bubbles, floating with support, and gentle kicking. As confidence grows, children are gradually introduced to basic stroke movements and coordination exercises.
Good Beginners
Good Beginner Swimming Lessons build on the foundations developed in our beginner classes, helping your child progress with confidence. In this stage, we focus on increasing swimming distance and improving overall independence in the water, with the goal of your child no longer needing armbands by the time they move up. Stroke technique is introduced and refined, enabling your child to swim the three main strokes with growing confidence and control.
Intermediates
Our Intermediate stage focuses on refining and perfecting stroke technique as swimmers continue to build strength and confidence. Distances are increased to up to 200 metres and the fourth stroke of butterfly is introduced. We also begin incorporating essential water safety skills and basic rescue techniques, helping swimmers become more capable and confident in the water with swimmers completing practical tasks while wearing clothing to simulate real-life scenarios.
Advanced
Our Advanced class represents the final stage of our programme. Swimmers will confidently complete distances of over 1000m, demonstrating proficiency in all four strokes, including effective tumble turns and correct finishes. Swimmers are encouraged to develop greater independence in the water, improving their pacing, stamina, and overall performance. Alongside stroke development, we continue to build water safety awareness through more challenging lifesaving skills. This includes completing practical rescue and survival tasks while wearing clothing, helping to simulate real-life situations and prepare swimmers to respond effectively in an emergency. By the end of this stage, swimmers will not only be technically accomplished but also confident, resilient, and equipped with essential skills for both competitive swimming and personal water safety.
